Veteran journalist and Rising Kashmir Editor Shujaat Bukhari was shot dead by unidentified gunmen outside his office at Srinagar’s Press Colony. His two Personal Security Officials (PSOs) were also injured in the attack.

“The scourge of terror has reared its ugly head on the eve of Eid. I strongly condemn this act of mindless violence & pray for his soul to rest in peace. My deepest condolences to his family,” she tweeted.
Mr. Bukhari was a journalist for The Hindu from 1997 to 2012. He worked as a Special Correspondent based in Srinagar. He continued to write for Frontline, a sister publication.
